The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band Plays Fallsview's Avalon Theatre on Their Farewell Tour
Some goodbyes travel a long way. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band — the California country-rock group whose 1972 Will the Circle Be Unbroken helped build the bridge between country and rock for a whole generation — brings All The Good Times: The Farewell Tour to The Avalon Theatre at Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort on April 18. For a band that has been on the road for nearly six decades, the farewell run feels earned and unhurried.
The Avalon is a 1,500-seat theater built for this kind of show — close enough to the stage that you can see every pick slide, big enough to carry the harmonies. The farewell setlist has leaned heavily on the classics — "Mr. Bojangles," "Fishin' in the Dark," "An American Dream" — and featured guest appearances from members of the extended Nashville family at select stops.
If you're going: the casino is on the Canadian side; bring your passport or enhanced license. The Avalon shares a lobby with the casino floor, so arrive early for dinner at one of the resort restaurants. Parking at the casino is validated for ticketed events.
